Artist Bio
Karen Fabiano's creative mind started when she was just a little girl growing up in Washington State. Along with her imaginary friend, they would create beautiful art pieces from interesting objects. Years later Karen was on a personal journey to rediscover herself; along the way she found the creativity inside. Today she cherishes that creativity and shares it by re-creating and re-using found objects to make items that can be re-loved as imaginative works of art.
Karen started making bottle cap art magnets in 2005; a year later she was selling her craft creations in local stores. Her bottle cap art has evolved into other craft ventures; these days Karen’s production line includes note cards made from recycled linen card stock, coasters from salvaged tiles and night lights that encourage happy dreams, as well as help you find your way in the dark.
Artist Statement
I’ve always enjoyed dancing to the beat of my own drum. My first bicycle was a hand-me-down boy’s BMX bike that Dad and I spray-painted pink.
I believe this unforgettable project helped unleash the girly tomboy within and has inspired me throughout my life. I love metal, rusty objects and wood with flaky paint. I enjoy embellishing these materials with girly stuff like ribbon, hearts and/or glitter to accent the non-conventional beauty. It’s celebrating the differences that bring them together, creating the art side of my craft.
